Tyler Mahle Having Start Skipped
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Tyler Mahle (shoulder) is dealing with some tenderness in his shoulder and will be replaced in the rotation by Michael Lorenzen on Tuesday against the Brewers. It'll be Lorenzen's first start since 2015, so he's unlikely to last long and should be avoided by fantasy owners in a tough matchup nonetheless. Lorenzen has a 3.21 ERA in 42 relief outings this season, and manager Jim Riggleman is hoping he can give them around four innings. Mahle's availability for the rest of the season is in question, but Riggleman said Mahle "may pitch again this year." He has made just one start since Sept. 4 and can be left to the waiver wire from here on out. Lorenzen could be a candidate for the team's rotation next year, so he could get more starts past Tuesday.
