Tyler Gilbert Back From Paternity List
1 year agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated left-hander Tyler Gilbert from the paternity list on Wednesday and optioned right-hander Carlos Vargas to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Gilbert has only thrown three innings out of Arizona's bullpen at the major-league level so far in 2023, and he's allowed one earned run on two hits while walking one and striking out two. The 29-year-old southpaw wasn't quite as good in 21 outings (five starts) for Reno, posting a 5.67 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 19 walks and 65 innings in 54 innings pitched. There's a chance that Gilbert could see a start or two in the D-backs' starting rotation early in the second half of the season, but he'll be a desperation streaming option with a low ceiling if he does.
