Tyler Ferguson Collects First Career Save
4 months agoWith closer Mason Miller (finger) on the injured list, the Oakland Athletics turned to relief pitcher Tyler Ferguson, who collected his first career save in Thursday's victory versus the Los Angeles Angels. Ferguson worked a clean 1-2-3 inning, striking out Kevin Pillar and Logan O'Hoppe before getting Nolan Schanuel to fly out. The 30-year-old made his big-league debut earlier this season with Oakland and has a 3.97 ERA on the year in 22 2/3 innings. Managers should be aware that Lucas Erceg faced the heart of the Angels lineup in the eighth inning, but is likely to be the main closer while Miller is sidelined. Managers seeking saves should probably avoid this situation entirely, but Erceg should be the main target of the two.
