Tyler Beede To Start Friday Against Reds

The San Francisco Giants will call up starting pitcher Tyler Beede to start against the Reds on Friday night, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Beede developed a new approach this year and excelled this spring and in April in the minors. The 25-year-old had an ugly 8.22 ERA in two starts in the majors last year, and he briefly moved to the bullpen. The right-hander has a fastball that regularly sits in the upper-90s, a big curveball and a solid changeup. Beede had posted a 1.99 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings on the farm, and it's possible that Friday just isn't a spot start. Start him at your own risk against Cincy in deeper formats.
