The San Francisco Giants will call up starting pitcher Tyler Beede to start against the Reds on Friday night, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Beede developed a new approach this year and excelled this spring and in April in the minors. The 25-year-old had an ugly 8.22 ERA in two starts in the majors last year, and he briefly moved to the bullpen. The right-hander has a fastball that regularly sits in the upper-90s, a big curveball and a solid changeup. Beede had posted a 1.99 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings on the farm, and it's possible that Friday just isn't a spot start. Start him at your own risk against Cincy in deeper formats.--Keith Hernandez
