Tyjae Spears Exits Loss With Potential Concussion
5 months agoTennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (head) was taken to the locker room for concussion evaluation during the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. At the moment, the Titans have not disclosed whether Spears was officially diagnosed with a concussion. Operating as the backup to Tony Pollard on Sunday, Spears registered three carries for zero yards on the ground. He also caught two of his three targets for an additional gain of eight yards through the air. Fantasy managers should monitor Spears' status going forward, but Pollard continues to be the only Tennessee running back worth starting in fantasy football.

Tyjae Spears Trending Toward Being Out Against Texans
3 months agoTennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (concussion) has yet to practice in Week 18 after missing a second straight day on Thursday. Spears suffered his second concussion of the year in the Week 17 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday and is fully expected to be held out of the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday versus the division-rival Houston Texans. Lead back Tony Pollard (ankle) missed last week's game and could also be held out this weekend despite being limited in practices this week, meaning Julius Chestnut could lead Tennessee's backfield in Week 18. The 23-year-old Spears looks likely to end his sophomore season in the NFL with 84 carries for 312 yards (3.7 yards per tote) while catching 30 of 35 targets for 224 yards and one TD in 12 games. It was a step back from his rookie production as he operated mainly as the change-of-pace option behind Pollard all year.

Tyjae Spears Estimated As DNP On Wednesday
3 months agoTennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (concussion) was estimated as a non-participant in practice on Wednesday. Head coach Brian Callahan previously said that Spears would not play in Week 18, and Wednesday's injury report reflects that sentiment. The 23-year-old has flourished over his last three games, totaling 127 rushing yards, 134 receiving yards, and four touchdowns during that span. If there's anything positive to take away from the Titans' injury report, it's the fact that Tony Pollard (ankle) was able to practice in a limited capacity. There appears to be a strong chance that Pollard plays in Week 18, with Julius Chestnut backing him up.

Tony Pollard Could Play In Week 18, Tyjae Spears Up In The Air
3 months agoTennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said there's a chance that running back Tony Pollard (ankle, illness) could play in Week 18 against the division-rival Houston Texans after missing the Week 17 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Tyjae Spears (concussion), however, is more uncertain after suffering a concussion against the Jags on Sunday. Callahan hasn't sounded very optimistic about Spears' chances of playing in the regular-season finale. The Titans have nothing to play for this weekend and will prioritize playing time for younger players, so even if the 27-year-old Pollard is feeling well enough to return to action, there's no guarantee he'll be the Titans' featured back all game. If the team rules out both Pollard and Spears by this Friday, Tennessee's backfield would be split by Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley to close out the year.

Tyjae Spears Won't Play In Week 18
3 months agoTennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (concussion) has already been ruled out ahead of Week 18 against the Houston Texans, head coach Brian Callahan told the media. Spears exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not return. He finished Week 17 with 98 rushing yards on 21 carries. He also caught three of his four targets for eight yards through the air. Spears had been elevated to the lead-back role with Tony Pollard (ankle, illness) sidelined before he, too, had to leave the contest. Julius Chestnut and Joshua Kelley took over as the Titans' top running backs with Spears sidelined, but Pollard could return to the mix for next week's regular-season finale.
