Ty Gibbs Has Upside at Darlington, But Will He Play It Safe?
3 months agoTy Gibbs enters the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday night with a 39-point advantage over the cutline in the playoffs. In other words, the NASCAR Cup Series rookie likely just needs to avoid disaster in order to make it into the postseason. So how will that affect his race this weekend? Gibbs finished second in the first Darlington race this season and the No. 54 Toyota showed good speed in practice this weekend as well, ranking fourth-fastest in 30-lap average on Saturday. Gibbs will roll off the starting grid from 13th-place when the race goes green on Sunday night. As far as his upside, Ty has top-five potential once again, but the big question mark is, how conservative he is going to be in order to preserve his postseason spot? It's hard to know for sure, but if you take that out of the equation, Ty Gibbs has plenty of DFS upside at Darlington this weekend.
