Twins Looking To Lock Up Byron Buxton
3 years agoThe Minnesota Twins have offered outfielder Byron Buxton a long-term contract in excess of $70 million. The 27-year-old is expected to decline the offer, as his upside alone should garner a more lucrative contract. The former 2017 second overall pick has been on the shelf since June 22 with a fractured left hand and isn't expected back before the July 30 trade deadline, complicating the situation. The oft-injured outfielder has 10 homers, 19 RBI, five stolen bases, 21 runs scored and a .369/.409/.767 slash line through 27 games. Buxton is a polarizing player in both fantasy and in real life, but injuries have limited the former top prospect from realizing his All-Star and 30-30 potential.
