Twins Add Jhoulys Chacin
5 years agoThe Minnesota Twins signed starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training on Sunday. Chacin was 3-12 with a rough 6.01 ERA with the Brewers and Red Sox in 2019, but the 32-year-old has been in the league for 11 years and should provide a nice veteran presence for the Twins, whether it be in the rotation or in relief. Michael Pineda will miss the first 39 games due to suspension and Rich Hill is recovering from elbow surgery and might not be ready until midseason, so there is an opportunity for Chacin to win a rotation spot to begin the year. In pitcher-friendly Minnesota, that could make Chacin attractive as a deep-league streamer.
