Triston Casas Still Far Away From Rehab Assignment

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (ribs) is still "far away" from his minor-league rehab assignment, according to Boston skipper Alex Cora. Greg Dudek of NESN.com reported that Casas has only been seen on the diamond with a microphone, and that seems to be the case going forward. The 24-year-old has reportedly begun taking dry swings, but his potential return date still seems quite far away. Casas has played in only 22 games this season after posting a strong .263/.367/.490 line with 24 home runs, 65 RBI, and a 70:126 BB:K ratio in 2023. The former first-round pick could still return to the major leagues in the stretch run of the season but will have to participate in an extensive rehab assignment beforehand, given how much time he has missed this summer.
