Trey Murphy III Out At least 10 Weeks
1 year agoNew Orleans Pelicans guard Trey Murphy III (knee) underwent a partial meniscectomy and a biologic injection on Thursday. He's expected to resume basketball activities in 10-to-12 weeks. The 23-year-old, who suffered a left knee injury while training, averaged a career-high 14.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 79 games last season. He also shot a potent 40.6% from deep. It's a tough blow for the Pelicans, as Murphy was anticipated to be a stable presence in the rotation. While that still should happen, the injury means he won't be on the court until November at the earliest. Even then, Murphy could be limited for some time once he's cleared to return. Nonetheless, Naji Marshall and Dyson Daniels are the favorites to absorb most of Murphy's minutes. There's also a chance that 2023 first-round pick Jordan Hawkins gets more work. However, none of them should be consistent fantasy producers.
