Trevor Rogers Gets Past Early Jitters But Still Loses On Monday
4 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Trevor Rogers got off to an awful start in Monday's start, but was able to settle in and ended up with an decent start, all things considered. The first nine pitches Rogers threw were out of the strike zone and he allowed three runs (two earned) in the first inning. He settled down after that, and was actually very impressive for the rest of his outing. In total, he ended up with four innings, allowing the two earned runs on two hits and four walks, striking out six. Yadier Molina blasted a ball to the wall in the first inning, but the Cardinals couldn't get much good contact after that. Rogers walked just five batters all spring, but of course walked four just in the first inning. He had some jitters that he needed to get out, and it's a safe bet he'll fare better his next time out against the New York Mets.
