5 months agoKansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. Since the loss of Rashee Rice due to a knee injury, Kelce has been the benefactor of the relinquished targets. After two weeks of strong utilization in the offense, Kelce had a down game in Week 7. Kelce had four catches for 17 yards against the San Francisco 49ers. Kelce will take on the Raiders, who rank eighth in fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, but he will likely receive a large percentage of the passing volume. The arrival of All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins may cap Kelce's ceiling for volume but could help his efficiency by attracting more defensive coverage. Kelce is ranked as TE3 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings this week, so start him as a high-end TE1.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said on Tuesday that the team anticipates tight end Travis Kelce playing in 2025. "Hopefully he has a magical season to end his magical career," Veach said. Kelce, a four-time All-Pro and 10-time Pro Bowler, has been contemplating retirement this offseason after the blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in which he had four catches for 39 yards. The 35-year-old caught 97 of his 133 targets for 823 yards and only three touchdowns in 16 regular-season starts. He's scheduled to make $17 million this year -- $4.5 million in salary, $11.5 million on a roster bonus due on March 15 and $1 million on a roster bonus due on Aug. 1. Veach said that the March 15 deadline on Kelce's bonus isn't a deadline for Kelce to make a decision, but Chiefs surely wouldn't want to pay $11.5 million to Kelce for him to walk away. Stay tuned.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoOn his New Heights podcast, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said that he is planning to take his time this offseason as he decides whether to retire from professional football following a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. "I'm gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it's gonna be a wholehearted decision and I'm not half-assing it, and I'm fully here for them," Kelce said. "I think I can play, it's just whether or not I'm motivated or it's the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility." The 35-year-old 10-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro managed 97 receptions in 16 regular-season games but had only three touchdowns and 823 yards, his fewest since his rookie season when he played just one game. If Kelce does return in 2025, he'll still be on the TE1 radar in fantasy, but his days of being the first TE off the board are over.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 month agoKansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caught four passes for 39 yards in the 22-40 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The 35-year-old needed two touchdowns to tie Jerry Rice's playoff touchdown record, but failed to catch any in his last two games. The Eagles defense swarmed Patrick Mahomes on nearly every drop back, making it challenging to execute the passing game. Kelce was targeted six times, second on the team behind Xavier Worthy. The veteran tight end was unable to make a considerable difference in the game and his future in the league is uncertain after this loss. Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion and has a case to be the greatest tight end in NFL history. Whether he decides to return next season or not, Kelce is destined for the Hall of Fame.--Joshua Costello - RotoBaller

1 month agoKansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is uncertain if he'll be back on the football field next season. Kelce said he has a lot of good football left in him, but is unsure if he'll return after Sunday's Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. It seems that Sunday's result could play a factor in Kelce's final decision. Kelce has played over a decade in the league and is one of the greatest tight ends to ever play. It's worth noting that Kelce has set himself up nicely for life after football. That being said, it wouldn't be shocking to see Kelce call it a career if the Chiefs are able to three-peat on Sunday. Kelce doesn't have much left to accomplish in his career, so a Super Bowl victory might be a nice way to ride into the sunset.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
