Tony Finau Surges Into Tie For Lead At U.S. Open
6 years agoIt was a wild third round at Shinnecock Hills on Saturday and Tony Finau was a huge benefactor. Finau got his third round underway early Saturday morning and fired a gorgeous four-under 66. As Finau finished up his round, the leaders began teeing off and faced increasingly difficult conditions throughout the day. Thanks in part to a large amount of wind and greens that became borderline unplayable, Finau continued climbing up the leaderboard as the afternoon groups struggled. At the end of the historic third round, Finau found himself tied for the lead at 3-over par for the championship. The young American star will be in Sunday's final group and will attempt to capture his first major championship.
