Tony Finau Finishes U.S. Open in Fifth Place
6 years agoAfter a wild Saturday, Tony Finau found himself in the final group the U.S. Open's final round Sunday. Finau got off to a rocky start in the pressure-packed environment, playing his first four holes in 3-over par. The rising star was able to right the ship with a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole and eventually made two more on the front nine. Finau entered the home stretch at Shinnecock Hills with a very realistic chance to capture his first major championship, but as we've seen over the course of his career, he struggled to make putts in critical spots. Finau logged a double-bogey on the final hole that dropped him to fifth place for the tournament. Despite a lackluster finish, the young pro will take away some amazing major championship experience. His fifth place finish this week follows an impressive tie for 10th at The Masters. Finau is showing that he can compete at an elite level and should be on DFS radars for all tournaments going forward.
