Timo Meier Finally Scores His First Goal
2 years agoSan Jose Sharks winger Timo Meier was finally able to celebrate his first goal of the campaign in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win against Toronto. He entered the contest after having set an NHL record with the most shots on goal through nine games without scoring (42). Meier's barren spell finally ended Thursday night when he managed to find the back of the net on the power play 5:57 into the second period. He scored with his fourth shot of the game and finished with six efforts in total, adding an assist to his tally when Erik Karlsson scored the game-winner. Meier's low accuracy has left his shooting percentage stand at a measly 2.1 percent. He also boasts only three assists, so it's not been a great start to the season for the Swiss winger, but Meier should start to improve his goals tally quickly, as his career average shooting percentage is near 10 percent.
