Tim Beckham Named AL Player Of The Week
6 years agoSeattle Mariners shortstop Tim Beckham was named the American League Player of the Week to open the 2019 season. Beckham went 5-for-7 in the team's two-game sweep of the A's in Tokyo with a homer, double, two walks, two RBI and four runs. The 29-year-old then hit a two-run homer in the U.S. opener and ended his first week hitting .435 with three long balls and a 1.432 OPS. He is currently tied for the major league lead with 10 hits and eight runs scored. Beckham is certainly enjoying his new digs. Enjoy it now, though, because he could easily fall back down to earth after hitting just .230/.287/.374 with 12 homers and 35 RBI in 96 games with the O's last year.
