4 years agoThe Detroit Tigers are in contention to begin the season with a 9-7 record after losing 114 games last year, but they have just one pitcher who has made multiple starts while posting an ERA better than 5.74. Casey Mize, the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, could be an option to join the starting rotation soon with one of the best combinations of stuff and polish among all pitching prospects. The 23-year-old is ranked as baseball's No. 8 overall prospect and features an elite mid-80s splitter that gets a lot of swings and misses and weak contact. There are some concerns with his right shoulder, but Mize has the upside of top-of-the-rotation for Detroit.
