Three Teams Eyeing DJ LeMahieu
6 years agoThe Dodgers, Nationals and Twins have had preliminary talks with free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu. The Nats have also been monitoring Jed Lowrie, Josh Harrison and Marwin Gonzalez on the free-agent market, according to sources. If the Nats don't sign a second baseman, they have the option of using veteran Howie Kendrick at the keystone full time in 2019, but he tore his right Achilles in May and didn't play the rest of the year. Minnesota has also shown interest in free-agent second baseman Ian Kinsler. Colorado didn't extend a $17.9 million qualifying offer to LeMahieu and aren't believed to be making a serious effort to re-sign him. LeMahieu has three Gold Glove awards and two All-Star appearances in the last five years.
