months agoMiami Marlins pitching prospect Thomas White allowed one run in his five innings of work on Thursday night for High-A Beloit with three hits, three walks, and eight strikeouts. The left-hander boasts an 11.8 K/9 over eight starts with Beloit this season. He has a 2.92 ERA and 1.37 WHIP across two levels this season with 93 strikeouts in 71 innings. The 19-year-old has a 60-grade fastball and curveball to go with a 55-grade changeup to offer a promising arsenal with good strikeout potential. It will likely take a bit for White to make his way through the minors but this is a high-upside arm to monitor.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller

months agoMiami Marlins starting pitching prospect Thomas White held a 3.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 10:34 BB:K ratio through his first five starts at High-A. White logged two starts where he did not allow a run and made three starts where he tallied at least seven punchouts, with a high of eight on June 7. The 19-year-old southpaw opened the season with Single-A and held a solid 3.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 17:44 BB:K ratio across 34 frames. White is considered the 57th-best prospect in baseball on MLB.com and one of the best left-handed pitchers in the minor leagues. Dynasty managers should pay close attention to White in the All-Star Futures Game and for the remainder of the second half of the season, as he could reach Double-A next summer.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

months agoMiami Marlins starting pitching prospect Thomas White was promoted to High-A on May 28 and has looked quite sharp through his first taste of the new level. Through two starts (eight ⅓ innings), the 19-year-old southpaw posted a 2.16 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 4:14 BB:K ratio. Through 34 innings at Single-A this season, the 2023 draft pick held a 3.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and a 17:44 BB:K ratio. MLB Pipeline ranks White as the third overall prospect in the Miami system and projects him to reach the majors in 2027. While he is several seasons away from the big leagues, dynasty managers should continue to monitor him as he could become a must-stash as he progresses through the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

months agoMiami Marlins pitching prospect Thomas White was promoted to High-A Beloit on Tuesday. White was the 35th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and is currently the team's third-ranked prospect (MLB No. 88). So far this season at Single-A, the 19-year-old has made eight starts, posting a 3.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and a 44:17 K:BB over 34 innings pitched. The 44 strikeouts equate to a good 28.0% K%, but the walks settle at a 10.8% BB%, so that's something he could try to improve on at the next level. MLB.com's Top Prospects list gives him an ETA of 2027, but the southpaw has the makings of a front-of-the-rotation starter, so dynasty managers should be keeping close tabs on his ascent.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

months agoMiami Marlins starting pitching prospect Thomas White set a new career-high nine strikeouts on Friday evening. The 19-year-old southpaw threw five innings of one-run ball, allowed four hits, one free pass, and struck out nine. This was a big step for the number two prospect in the Miami system, as he has never gone five innings yet this season. This start lowers his ERA to 4.60 and WHIP to 1.91 across 15 ⅔ innings. White is still several years away from the majors, but he is worth keeping an eye on in dynasty leagues as he has the potential to become one of the top arms in the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
