Lions Need Matthew Stafford To Be Better In Week 2
6 years agoDetroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was awful in Week 1 against the Jets. He threw four interceptions for the first time in since 2013. He completed 27 of 46 passes for just 286 yards in a game where the Lions spent the second half passing almost exclusively. This week, the Lions travel to San Francisco, and Stafford has a lot to prove. The 49ers defense ranked 28th against the pass last season, and they have a similar look this season. Though the Lions offensive line is banged up, the 49ers pass rush is weak. Stafford has the weapons to throw to, and while his career road splits aren’t the best, expect the Lions to come out looking to make a statement. Give Stafford another week as your quarterback before considering benching him.
