5 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman gave quarterback Carson Wentz quite a vote of confidence on Thursday, stating "We are married to Carson Wentz. Coach Pederson & I, (team owner) Mr. Lurie & I — we are all married to Carson. We’ve shown it with our actions." That all came into question a bit last week when the Eagles drafted former Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of the NFL Draft. Rumors have been swirling about the Eagles potentially using Hurts in a hybrid role perhaps somewhat like the Saints use Taysom Hill, but in reality it seems more like the team knew they needed a strong backup for Wentz due to his injury history, and Nate Sudfeld and Kyle Lauletta just wouldn't cut it for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. Time will tell if Hurts will actually see the field if Wentz remains healthy, but for now it seems like Carson Wentz remains the starting quarterback for the Eagles without any immediate competition.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
