12 months agoChris Buescher may be Texas's current native son in NASCAR, but his record at his home track is lackluster. Not only has he never finished better than 14th at Texas, he's also never led a lap under green, as he performs better on short tracks and road courses than the 1.5-mile intermediates. However, Buescher had, by far, his best-ever run in last fall's event, where he started second, had an average running position of sixth, and had his best driver rating at the track. However, the Fords in general and the RFK cars in particular do not seem to have as much speed on the speedways as they did last year and Buescher is only starting 19th this weekend. He'll probably have an above-average run, but it's unlikely he'll seriously contend, and his track record at Texas Motor Speedway leaves a lot to be desired.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoRFK Racing's Chris Buescher will start 11th for this week's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Buescher was the only one of the three RFK entries to qualify inside the top 15 for Sunday's race at the Miami track. In nine races at Homestead, Buescher has five top-20 finishes without a single top-10. The No. 17 Ford driver also has five finishes with positive Place Differential collected as well. Through five races so far this season, Buescher has four finishes of 13th or better with positive PD earned twice. In practice for this week's race, Buescher ranked 13th in overall lap averages while only ranking among the top 10 fastest in 30 consecutive lap averages. Considering his salary ($7,900) on DraftKings, low upside, and practice speeds, Buescher is best utilized as a contrarian option for tournament lineups who presents some risk due to his Homestead track history.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoChris Buescher has never finished better than ninth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 16 career Cup Series starts, but that doesn't mean that there isn't upside for the Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing driver in the Pennzoil 400 this weekend. The No. 17 Ford was actually one of the fastest Fords here at Las Vegas last season, although the finishes don't reflect that. In the spring race last year, Buescher had a loose wheel that derailed his race early, and in the fall event, it became a fuel mileage race and the No. 17 Ford wound up 10th when it was all said and done. At Kansas last season--which is the sister track of Las Vegas--Buescher nearly won the first race and ended up finishing 11th in the fall despite starting back in 25th. This weekend in Vegas, the No. 17 Ford was 10th-fastest in practice with the 16th-best 10-lap average. Buescher will start from 11th-place when the Pennzoil 400 goes green and could challenge for a top-10 finish. In DFS, he's a tournament option at $7,400. Use sparingly or as a pivot.--Jordan McAbee

4 weeks agoRFK Racing's Chris Buescher placed fifth after a quiet yet productive performance at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday. Starting from the 13th position, Buescher did not make many moves during the first stage but kept his car clean and out of trouble. He would end the first stage in the 12th position, falling short of earning stage points. In the second stage, Buescher continued to quietly ride along with the rest of the field, keeping his car in one piece and avoiding further issues. The No. 17 Ford driver placed 12th at the end of stage two, failing to earn stage points once again. In the final stage, it was much of the same for Buescher, who finally utilized the option tires in the latter parts of stage three to make moves. Buescher then climbed up and competed for a top-5 finish on the race's final restart. Buescher accomplished just that and placed fifth overall, earning his third career top-5 finish at Phoenix.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

4 weeks agoDon't forget about Chris Buescher ($8,400) when building your DraftKings lineups for this weekend's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Over the last three races at the track, Buescher has been one of the strongest competitors, with finishes of ninth, second, and fifth to his credit over that span. He also has results of 15th and 10th here at Phoenix back in 2023 and 2022, which were also with the Next Gen car. Looking at this weekend, Buescher qualified 13th, which is actually a little better than his "normal" in the desert. Additionally, the No. 17 looked pretty good in practice, ranking eighth-fastest in 10-lap average, ninth-fastest in 15-lap average, and 11th-fastest in 20-lap average. The Fords tend to be the best manufacturer when it comes to tire falloff on long runs, and Buescher's recent track record speaks for itself. In tournaments, Buescher looks to be an excellent pivot option on DraftKings heading into race day. --Jordan McAbee
