Taylor Hearn Makes Case To Start With Strong Performance
4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Taylor Hearn worked three innings of strong relief on Monday during the club's 1-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The 6-foot-6, hard-throwing lefty allowed just one run on one hit and two walks while recording seven of his nine outs via the strikeout. The lone hit against him was a home run by Rays shortstop Willy Adames. Hearn dominated with mostly his fastball, which ranged from 94-96 mph. He now has an impressive 32% strikeout rate in 8 1/3 innings this season, and the former minor league starter could be making a case for a future role in the starting rotation. He'll need to display more consistent command, though, as he has five walks so far this season.
