Tanner Scott Takes Loss In Non-Save Situation Monday
1 year agoMiami Marlins closer Tanner Scott fell to 8-5 in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Mets. Scott came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning with the game tied 1-1. He allowed a leadoff, go-ahead home run before getting the first out on a strikeout, allowing a single, having another runner reach on an error, and getting the final two outs on a pop-out and a strikeout. The Marlins weren't able to equalize in the bottom half, making Scott the losing pitcher of record. Despite this, Scott has been strong since taking over the closer's role and has nine saves with a 2.23 ERA and 11.89 K/9 rate on the season. With the Marlins in the thick of the playoff hunt, Scott should provide plenty of fantasy value down the stretch.
