Tanner Houck Works Clean Ninth For Save
2 years agoBoston Red Sox reliever Tanner Houck worked a perfect ninth inning to preserve the team's 4-2 win over the Guardians on Saturday. It was the sixth save in as many tries this season as he needed just seven pitches to retire the bottom-third of the Guardians lineup. Houck has been a breath of fresh air to the struggling Red Sox bullpen as he's compiled a 3.03 ERA with 30 K through 29 2/3 IP as a reliever this season. He won't be able to travel for the club's upcoming series versus the Blue Jays in Toronto, but he still has a pretty strong hold on the closing job in Beantown.
