Tanner Houck Will Start the Second Game of the Season
4 years agoWith the Eduardo Rodriguez injury causing manager Alex Cora to shuffle the rotation, Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Tanner Houck will get the start Saturday against the Orioles. Houck, the Red Sox seventh-rated prospect, was phenomenal in three outings last year, striking out 21 and allowing just one run in 17 innings. Houck had an up and down spring, holding batters to a .222 average but also walking over a batter an inning. Houck will get an opportunity to prove himself as a long-term rotation option, but he will likely be the first one sent down upon Rodriguez's return.
