Tage Thompson Set To Return On Wednesday
4 months agoBuffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson (lower body) has announced that he's ready to rejoin the lineup on Wednesday against Minnesota. He has missed five games with a lower-body issue. Despite the absence, Thompson remains Buffalo's top goal-scorer with 11 markers. He's also collected seven assists in 16 games. Before exiting the lineup, Thompson scored in four consecutive games. His return will bump Ryan McLeod down to the third line. It's a blow to McLeod's fantasy value, but he has been effective in the role.

Tage Thompson Could Return On Saturday
2 months agoAccording to Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio, Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson (concussion) "looks good" ahead of Saturday's contest against the Nashville Predators. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during the morning skate, but he is trending toward a return. The 27-year-old has missed the previous contest due to a concussion. However, he was able to fully participate during Friday's practice, which is a great sign. Before the injury, Thompson tallied an impressive 14 points over his last nine games. During this stretch, Thompson has scored seven goals and added seven helpers. He tallied 29 shots on goal, three hits, seven blocks, and held a +10 rating. If Thompson were to return, he would reclaim his spot on the top line and be a top target in DFS facing Nashville.

Tage Thompson Resumes Skating, Still In Concussion Protocol
2 months agoAccording to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News, Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson (concussion) skated on his own Wednesday morning but is still in concussion protocol. Head coach Lindy Ruff said that Thompson "feels good" but would still need to pass through the protocol to return to action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Saturday evening against the Nashville Predators. The 27-year-old sat out during their contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday evening. Before his injury, Thompson tallied an impressive 14 points (seven goals and seven helpers) over his last nine contests. If Thompson were to miss his second straight contest, fantasy managers should expect Isak Rosen to continue to have a role on the top line.

Tage Thompson Ruled Out On Tuesday
2 months agoAccording to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News, Buffalo Sabres center Tage Thompson (upper body) will not suit up on Tuesday evening to face the Columbus Blue Jackets. Thompson sustained this injury during their victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday evening. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next game on Saturday evening against the Nashville Predators. This is their final game before the international break. Fantasy managers should expect Isak Rosen to take Thompson's spot on the top line. Over his previous nine games, Thompson has tallied 14 points (seven goals, seven helpers) while tallying 3.22 shots on goal per game with three hits and seven blocks. Rosen has appeared in only one game this season and should not be targeted in DFS competitions.

Tage Thompson "Good" Following Sunday's Early Exit
2 months agoBuffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson (upper body) appears to have avoided serious injury in Sunday's 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils. With 5:11 played in the third period, Thompson was elbowed to the face by Devils forward Stefan Noesen and could not continue the game. However, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters postgame that Thompson is "good" and "passed all the tests." This means that Thompson should not miss additional time. Before leaving Sunday's game, Thompson notched one goal and two assists, continuing his recent scoring surge. He has tallied seven goals and 14 points over his past nine appearances. The 27-year-old has managed 48 points (26 goals, 22 assists) in 47 games for the season.
