Steven Matz Managing Forearm Pain
6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz (shoulder) said he's been dealing with radial nerve discomfort in his left forearm throughout his career. However, he's managed it before this and is hoping to do the same moving forward. The pitch that usually triggers the pain is his curveball, and he's usually thrown less curves between each start. Wilmer Font will continue to fill in for Matz next Tuesday, but the left-hander could return next Thursday. He will throw a bullpen on Friday and is hopeful that injections he received won't make it a long-term issue. He's worth stashing in most leagues after posting a 3.86 ERA while allowing two or fewer runs in all but one of his seven starts in 2019.
