Stephen Strasburg Opts Out Of Deal
5 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher and World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg opted out of the final four years and $100 million of his deal on Saturday night. The 31-year-old right-hander dominated in the postseason and won five of his six starts, including two in the World Series. He also dominated in the regular season, going 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 251 strikeouts in 209 innings over his 33 starts. As long as he's healthy, Stras has proven to be one of the elite starters in baseball, and that shouldn't change if he's not in D.C. in 2020 and beyond. Along with Gerrit Cole, Strasburg will now be one of the top free-agent arms this winter.
