Starling Marte Scratched On Opening Day
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte has been scratched from the Opening Day lineup as he deals with migraines. Veteran Melky Cabrera will play right field and bat second in his place on Thursday, while J.B. Shuck will start in center and bat seventh. Marte, 30, is coming off a season that saw him hit a career-high 20 home runs in 145 games, his most played since 2015. Migraines shouldn't be considered a serious issue, so it is highly unlikely that he'll miss an extended period of time, but his status for Saturday's game could be up in the air.
