Starling Marte Back In The Two-Hole
1 year agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte put together a two-hit game on Monday while scoring twice and driving in one, helping his team blow out the Houston Astros 11-1. He's now batting .295 in June and is sporting a .258/.313/.329 slash line with three homers, 31 runs, 20 RBI, and 19 stolen bases across 66 games this year. The strong month has prompted manager Buck Showalter to promote Marte back to the number two spot in the lineup, as he's batted second for the past five games after batting mostly sixth since May 6. Despite his lack of power, the 34-year-old belongs in almost every format with his speed and the improved counting stats about to come.
