Spenser Watkins Earns Win In First Career Start
3 years agoBaltimore Orioles pitcher Spenser Watkins had a special game in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Blue Jays, earning the win in his first big-league start. Watkins pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts. The 28-year-old has never been much of a strikeout pitcher but did have a solid 3.58 ERA through 32 2/3 IP with Triple-A Norfolk earlier in the season. It remains to be seen when Watkins may make his next start, but with the O's rotation in serious need of help, Watkins should be able to stick around if he can continue to pitch like he did in his first start.
