Spencer Turnbull To Have Tommy John Surgery
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery and won't pitch again this season. The starter was previously placed on the 10-day injured list on June 5. He was later transferred to the 60-day injured list on July 7. It's unfortunate news for both the Tigers and fantasy managers, as the right-hander was in the midst of a breakout season. In nine starts spanning 50 innings, Turnbull had pitched to a 2.88 ERA and a 2.95 FIP while striking out 44 batters and walking just 12. Because it's Tommy John surgery, you can cut him in redraft leagues, and he'll likely miss at least half of the 2022 season as he rehabs.
