Spencer Jones Slumping In July
4 months agoNew York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has been in a bit of a slump since the start of July after posting an excellent .296/.355/.546 line with six home runs, 29 RBI, and five stolen bases in June. Through the first nine games in July, the former 25th overall pick sits with a disappointing .135/.238/.297 line with just three extra-base hits. He has posted only one multi-hit game and five games without a hit. Overall, Jones has struggled to find consistency through his first extended look at Double-A after logging a small 17-game stint to close out last season. Jones is considered the 74th-best prospect in baseball and the second-best in the Yankee system on MLB.com but may have to wait until next summer to make his major league debut, given his struggles at Double-A.
