Sonny Gray Throws Successful Bullpen Session On Friday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds pitcher Sonny Gray (groin) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 9 with a right groin strain. The Reds pitcher is expected to miss at least two turns in the rotation. "I felt good," Gray said. "That was all I was really looking to get out of it. It was to walk off the mound in as good of a spot or a better spot than I was going into it. I feel like that definitely happened." Gray currently has no timetable for a return, but isn't expected to miss much time. The 31-year-old owned a 3.42 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts across 50 innings before the injury. Tony Santillan will remain in the rotation while Gray is sidelined. Santillan allowed one run on five hits and four walks across 4.2 innings in his previous start. The 24-year-old pitcher is a speculative add in deep-league formats.
