Sonny Gray Outdueled In Houston
7 years agoThe New York Yankees began a four-game set against the Houston Astros Monday night in a rematch of last season’s ALCS. On the mound was Sonny Gray, the former Cy Young finalist who has struggled the first month of the season. The outing might have been his best of the season to date, as he tied for his longest start of the year at six innings. He surrendered just two runs, his fewest allowed since his first start of the year, striking out four but once again dealing with walks, giving up three. Gray’s performance would normally be enough for his offense, but they struggled as well, managing just one run. The good news for Gray is that despite the defeat, he managed to lower his ERA over a full run to 6.67.
