Sonny Gray Only Goes Five Innings, Gets Win
6 years agoTaking on the Washington Nationals for the second time in five days, New York Yankees starter Sonny Gray once again managed to only go five innings Monday night, getting pulled after putting the first two runners on in the sixth. This time pitching at Nationals Park, the 28-year-old allowed two runs on six hits, hitting a batter, walking another and striking out seven. He tossed just 86 pitches in the game, but also scored a run after reaching base via fielder’s choice. With the victory, Gray’s record improved to 5-4, as he continues to show that he might have turned a corner. Through four starts in June, Gray now has a 2.63 ERA.
