The Arizona Diamondbacks signed pitcher Slade Cecconi, a competitive-balance pick at the end of the first round in June, for $2.384 million on Thursday. It's just above the slot value for the No. 33 overall pick of $2.202 million. With the signing, Arizona has now signed all five of their draft selections from the 2020 draft. Cecconi comes from the University of Miami and has premium velocity, a nasty slider and plenty of upside heading into pro ball. The 6-foot-4, 219-pound right-hander has a projectable frame and features a hard slider, a work-in-progress changeup and curveball in addition to his heater. There are debates on whether he'll eventually be a starter or reliever, and Cecconi will live or die with his fastball-slider combination.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
