4 months agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick is the new starter in the backfield, even when Alexander Mattison (ankle) returns, according to head coach Antonio Pierce. "He deserves it," Pierce said. "He has run his tail off." The second-year back out of UTSA has rushed 32 times for 175 yards in four games this season. His 5.5 yards-per-carry average outpaces both Mattison and Zamir White (quadriceps) by over two full yards. While this is an exciting development for the young player, fantasy expectations should be tempered. Las Vegas has one of the worst offenses in the NFL, and McCormick's Week 15 matchup (Atlanta Falcons) has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs. That said, he draws better matchups against the Jaguars and Saints in Weeks 16 and 17.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

4 months agoLas Vegas Raiders rookie running back Sincere McCormick (ankle) said on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday that he plans to "be back next year" after injuring his ankle in Monday night's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. It's unclear how serious McCormick's ankle injury actually is, but at 2-12 on the season, the Raiders have little incentive to rush any of their injured players back onto the field for the final three games of the season. For lack of better options and with head coach Antonio Pierce looking for any kind of spark, the 24-year-old was thrust into a starting role with both Zamir White (quadriceps) and Alexander Mattison both recently missing multiple games. The former undrafted free agent out of Texas-San Antonio didn't make his NFL debut until Week 12 but averaged 4.7 yards per carry on 39 rushing attempts in five games. McCormick isn't guaranteed to be back with the Raiders in 2025.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

4 months agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick (ankle) carried the ball seven times for eight rushing yards and caught two passes for 17 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15 before having his leg trapped under a defender's tackle and awkwardly bending enough to cause an injury. He was initially said to be questionable, but was subsequently ruled out. He didn't return to the contest. His status for Week 16 is now up in the air, and fantasy managers will need to stay updated on the situation. It doesn't seem like a good idea to start him against the Jacksonville Jaguars next week, though, as he may deal with the lingering effects of the ailment for some time. In his place, RBs Ameer Abdullah and Alexander Mattison should split most of the backfield work if McCormick can't go. Abdullah seems like the guy to start in fantasy, since he's maintained a solid pass-catching role when he gets significant playing time.--John Johnson - RotoBaller

4 months agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick (ankle) is listed as questionable to return for Monday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. McCormick was forced to exit in the second quarter due to an ankle issue. The team will likely evaluate him at halftime to see if he'll be able to return for the second half. Before exiting, McCormick rushed for eight yards on seven carries and hauled in two receptions for 17 yards. The expectation is that Alexander Mattison will see the bulk of the carries until McCormick returns. Ameer Abdullah could also be in the mix for this Raiders rushing attack that has struggled all season long.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

4 months agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick, who took the starting job from RB Alexander Mattison (ankle), who took Zamir White's (quad) starting job, who took over for Josh Jacobs, who left for greener fields (literally), is the guy you want to start in Week 15. McCormick. He's the guy. He's a lot more explosive than the other backs in his backfield. It's not necessarily a great matchup, so perhaps many fantasy managers have their hopes high. Teams prefer to pass against the Falcons since they have an awful secondary and aren't great at getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. They've also had a productive offense for most of the season. McCormick's role is nice, though, and it necessitates consideration at RB2/RB3 slots for needy teams. He has a chance of being a key contributor down the stretch, and he's reasonably talented.--John Johnson - RotoBaller
