Si Woo Kim Makes His Fourth Consecutive Cut at the Valero Texas Open
7 years agoSi Woo Kim's T45 finish at the Valero Texas Open may not be overly exciting, but it is his fourth consecutive cut he has made. It's a bit of a backtrack after last weekend's second-place finish at the RBC Heritage, but on the bright side for Kim, it is another week of made-cut consistency. Kim played better than his one-under score would indicate. His 71-74-71-71 scorecard provided a total of 13 birdies, 12 bogeys, one eagle and one double-bogey. Kim ranked in the top 10 in strokes gained off the tee (3.683) and strokes gained around the green (4.216). Historically, Kim's irons and putter have gotten the best of him and this weekend provided a similar narrative. Kim lost negative-6.645 strokes on his approach shots, and although he did gain 0.379 strokes putting, Sunday produced 2.745 strokes towards that total. The 22-year-old Kim still has flaws in his game that need to be worked out, but he is transforming into a much more consistent golfer before our eyes.
