Should You Play Ryan Preece In DFS This Weekend?
8 months agoOn Saturday evening, Ryan Preece qualified 22nd for the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. Despite posting the third fastest time in practice (20.088) and scoring 59 DraftKings points in this race last season, don't get too excited about the seven-year Cup veteran this weekend at "The Paperclip." Because he started on the pole in last year's spring race, Preece racked up 135 lead laps, which helped cushion his score despite losing 14 points in place differential for the day. Although the 33-year-old deserves recognition for winning the pole last season, his lackluster finish was not a surprise as he has been underwhelming at this track throughout his career. In his nine Cup starts at Martinsville, Preece has never finished in the top 10 and is averaging 25.4 for his overall finishing position. Given that he is unlikely to get the lead lap points that carried him to the optimal lineup last spring, and that he tends to lose track position at this venue, it is recommended that you have little to no exposure to the No. 41 when building your lineups this weekend.
