Should Fantasy Players Utilize William Byron In DFS At Chicago?
5 months agoIn this week's Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course, William Byron qualified 27th. The No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports driver experienced power steering issues during practice and qualifying. As a result, the team will fix the power steering, which is an adjustment made to the car that will force Byron to start from the rear of the field. In his only Cup start last year at Chicago, Byron placed 13th after starting 22nd. Through 19 races so far this season, Byron has three wins and 10 top-10 finishes, including a road course win at COTA. In practice, Byron ranked 20th in five consecutive lap averages and 13th in overall lap averages despite the steering issues. Considering his starting position and how he will move to the rear, Byron does carry solid Place Differential upside. Based on his equipment, practice speeds, and past Chicago results, Byron is a favorable driver to add to any DFS format. Byron's salary does not make him the easiest recommendation when there are cheaper alternatives who can finish better than him. Fantasy players should hold moderate to below-average exposure for Byron this week, especially if his steering issues are not fully fixed on race day.
