Should Fantasy Players Roster Ty Gibbs At Indianapolis?
9 months agoFor the Brickyard 400 on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Ty Gibbs will start sixth. This is the first time that Gibbs will make a start at Indianapolis on the oval track in any of NASCAR's three national series. In 21 races so far this season, Gibbs has nine top-10 finishes and sits 11th in the regular season standings. In practice, Gibbs ranked 11th in 10 consecutive lap averages and 16th in overall lap averages. Based on his practice speeds, inexperience at Indianapolis, and low Place Differential upside, it is difficult to recommend Gibbs for DFS, considering how there are cheaper alternatives available with more upside this week.

Should Ty Gibbs Be Rostered For Homestead DFS Lineups?
7 days agoTy Gibbs will start 13th for this week's Homestead-Miami Speedway Cup Series race, the Straight Talk Wireless 400. This starting position ties the best of the season so far for Gibbs after five races. In three starts at Homestead in the Cup Series, Gibbs has only one top-10 finish and obtained positive Place Differential once. Gibbs is still in the middle of one of the worst slump periods of his career, as he only has one top-20 finish in the first five races this year. In practice, Gibbs ranked sixth in overall lap averages while displaying top-10 speeds in the 15 and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Despite not offering a high upside from his starting position, Gibbs is a driver who is a complete risk to roster into lineups this week based on his recent seasonwide performance and mixed track history at Homestead. Gibbs is only playable in tournament lineups as a contrarian option, but there are still cheaper and better alternatives available in the Cup Series field compared to the No. 54 Toyota driver.

Ty Gibbs A Solid DFS Option In Theory
2 weeks agoAfter looking like he would inevitably win his first NASCAR Cup Series race soon in the first half of last year, Ty Gibbs has had an inexplicable falloff. He has only posted a single top ten in the last 15 races despite having theoretically championship-caliber Joe Gibbs Racing equipment and it's not like he's even been running well and is merely unlucky. In the last seven races, his best average running position is 21st and he qualified 29th yesterday. His weekend went from bad to worse when he flipped his High Limit sprint car last night. Considering how dominant Gibbs's teammate Christopher Bell was in last fall's race here, Gibbs should be good for Place Differential in theory, but since he seems to be running badly on a regular basis now and somewhat unlucky, he's probably not a top-tier option.

Ty Gibbs Is A DFS Recommendation Despite Inconsistent Track History At Phoenix
3 weeks agoTy Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing will start 34th for this Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. This is by far the worst starting position of his Cup career to date for Gibbs at Phoenix. In four previous races at the site, Gibbs has one top-5 finish while the rest of his finishes were outside of the top 20, where he also lost Place Differential. In practice, Gibbs ranked 34th in overall lap averages but showcased top-20 speeds in all other categories. Based on his equipment and incredibly high upside, Gibbs is a playable driver to consider adding in all formats despite his lackluster Phoenix history.

Ty Gibbs May Not Be Worth His Salary For COTA DFS Lineups
4 weeks agoTy Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing will start 13th for this week's Echopark Texas Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas. It will be the second time in his Cup career that Gibbs will start outside of the top 10 at the site. In two previous races at COTA, Gibbs has two top-10 finishes, and he led one lap in last year's race at the Texas road course. In 12 road course starts except at Chicago in his Cup career, Gibbs has seven top-20 finishes, including six of his last nine at the track type. In final practice, Gibbs ranked 26th in overall lap averages and displayed top-20 speeds in all other categories. Despite his final practice speeds being underwhelming, Gibbs only has a modest amount of upside from his starting position. Based on his salary ($8,400), Gibbs is best utilized in tournament lineups, but even then, there are more favored DFS options for this week's race at lower price points compared to Gibbs. It is recommended to overall fade the No. 54 Toyota driver this week.
