Shohei Ohtani Pitching And Batting Second On Wednesday
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will make history in Wednesday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Ohtani is the Angels' starting pitcher for the game and he's also going to be batting second in the game, hitting out of the pitcher spot in the lineup. This will mark the first time ever that an American League team has opted to have a pitcher hit while a visiting National League team has gone with a designated hitter. Justin Upton (back) is sidelined due to lower back tightness, which makes Ohtani's bat especially valuable for the Angels on Wednesday. Ohtani is tied for first in the MLB with 23 home runs and he has a 2.70 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 10 starts on the year.
