Shohei Ohtani Joins 40/40 Club With Walk-Off Grand Slam
3 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 in Friday's 7-3 win over the Rays. Earlier in the game, the former 2x MVP stole a base to hit the 40-steal plateau, and then, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth in a tie ballgame, Ohtani belted a walk-off grand slam on the first pitch he saw in the at-bat to reach the 40-homer plateau. It was a storybook way to join the 40/40 club, but with 33 games to go, there is more to accomplish. For the season, the 4x All-Star has amassed a .292-40-92-97-40 line and is the front-runner for National League MVP.
