Shohei Ohtani Will Be Two-Way Player Once Season Begins
Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is expected to be on the mound at the outset of training camp later this week, according to general manager Billy Eppler. Ohtani will be a two-way player from the start of the 2020 season, which will begin in late July. The Japanese two-way star was one of the players that benefited from the shutdown of the season due to COVID-19, as he wasn't expected to be ready to pitch until mid-May. Now, he'll be part of the rotation on Opening Day and should serve as the designated hitter against right-handed pitchers. Ohtani has more upside as a pitcher, but expect the Halos to be extra careful with him during the 60-game season. His power/speed combination as a position player carries plenty of value in DFS and redraft leagues.
