Shogo Akiyama Signs With NPB Club
2 years agoOutfielder Shogo Akiyama has signed a three-year deal with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan's NPB. Akiyama was released by the Cincinnati Reds prior to the start of the 2022 MLB season. He played in 142 games for the Reds over the last two years and hit .224/.320/.274 while racking up nine stolen bases, 21 RBI and 32 runs. The 34-year-old played for the Saitama Seibu Lions in the NPB for about a decade before signing with the Reds. He had a number of prolific seasons in the NPB while compiling a .301/.376/.454 slash line.
