Shawn Kelley Wants To Keep Playing
6 years agoOakland Athletics free-agent relief pitcher Shawn Kelley has decided against retiring and wants to play a few more years, according to his agent, Mike McCann. The 34-year-old right-hander posted a nice 2.16 ERA in 19 outings with the A's after coming over on a waiver claim from the Nationals. Overall, Kelley had a 2.94 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 49 innings. He can be a valuable late-inning asset for a team, but he only has 15 career saves and is unlikely to land a job as a closer, which limits his fantasy value.
