Sergio Romo Officially Retires With Giants
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Sergio Romo officially retired with the team after making one final appearance during a Cactus League game against the Oakland Athletics on Monday. Romo pitched in the big leagues for 15 seasons with eight different teams and won three World Series rings. He was originally selected by the Giants in the 28th round of the 2005 draft. The 40-year-old reliever spent nine seasons in San Francisco, going 32-26 with a 2.58 ERA and 84 saves in 515 games. He made a franchise-record 27 playoff appearances for the team, most notably securing the save in the World Series-clinching victory over the Detroit Tigers in 2012.
