Seranthony Dominguez’s Scoreless Streak Snapped
6 years agoHeading into Wednesday’s game at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Seranthony Dominguez had not allowed a run in his major league career. The 23-year-old rookie had made 12 appearances this season, allowing just two hits and no walks. On Wednesday night, however, he entered the ninth inning after retiring the side in order in the eighth. Leading off with the first walk he’s allowed in his career, he struck out the second batter before an error moved the runner to second. Holding a two-run lead, he allowed a single, putting runners on the corners with one out. That was enough for manager Gabe Kapler to remove Dominguez from the game, but the two runners he left would score in a game-deciding grand slam.
